Picture Update!

Here is a picture from the Marine Corps Ball we had two weeks ago. Of course you have myself on the left, and on the right is Cpl Ogdee. He leaves in 5 days to go home for a bit and than San Salvador. I wish I could have just gotten the original digital copies from the photographer but these scans will have to do.

Happy Turkey Day

I hope everyone out theres Thanksgiving was as good as mine was. It's the second Thanksgiving I've missed away from home but it was excellent nonetheless. The Deputy Chief of Mission had us over to his house along with a bunch of embassy employees for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was excellent. I could barely move after I was done. I'm glad I had today off. Tomorrow I have to work so I should probably go to bed a little earlier than usual so I can sleep off all that food. heh.

Also, I know I said I would have some pictures soon and I do. But I have to find somewhere to scan them so I can upload them. The photographer from the ball wouldn't give us digital copies. :-\ As soon as I do I'll post one here. In the mean time here is one of me while I was in Korea.

I've Got Good News...And Bad News

Let's knock the good stuff out first. It's been quite a while since my last post. We had the Marine Corps Ball on the 10th, which is the Marine Corps' birthday. It couldn't have gone better, it was a blast. I was hoping to have a picture to put up but we haven't met with the photographer yet. So more to come on that. Now that the ball is over with everything is a lot calmer here, we all feel like we can breathe now. Not much else was going on here until I got my computer parts in yesterday. I was definitely pretty excited about that! I haven't built a computer since I joined the Marines so it was pretty fun to do. And everything works perfectly, in fact I'm doing this post on it right now. The system is screamin' fast, and just too cool. I couldn't ask for it to turn out better. Now if only they'll send me my belongings from my last duty station so I can have my game discs to install on it!

Now on to the bad news...In my excitement to setup my new system I got a little ahead of myself. Not paying attention to what I was doing I plugged in my external harddrive into the new computer while I was setting up Windows XP. I keep EVERYTHING on that drive dating back since high school. Movies, pictures, games, you name it. When it came time to choose a location to install Windows to I knew I was going to have to format the new harddrive in my new computer. But the setup gave me two harddrive choices and I was confused as to what the other one was while forgetting my USB drive was plugged in. I just chaulked it up to the setup detecting the card reader on my new PC. So what did I do? I formatted my USB drive. :-( Right now my laptop is running recovery software to get the files back. I think I'll get most of them but now I have to rename and reorganize it ALL. So this is probably going to be my last post for the next two weeks because I am going to have my hands full just sorting that mess out. :-
I'll try to make a post with just the pictures from the ball when I get 'em and until then, adios.

The Covenant Have Landed

Of all the things I could do an update on, it's friggin' Halo 2! The release of this game could be the single most important event of the year, even more so than the election! This game will determine the fate of mankind. Ok, maybe not but it definitely won't have any positive effect on my social interactions for the next few weeks. hehehe. Too much to say about this game and not enough blogger so you'll have to find out about it yourself if you don't already know.

A lot of other stuff has been happening too. Of course, we have another term with Bush in office. The embassy staff here were pretty happy cause a Kerry win would have meant a lot of personnel changes for some of the HMFIC's of the embassy. And this Wednesday we have the Marine Corps Ball. The ball celebrates the Marine Corps' birthday and this year my illustrious Corps will be 229 years old. The ball should be a lot of fun this year, there will most likely to be a post shortly following it.
